Progress Through Partnership Sustainability Through Action

As the world marks World Environment Day 2025 under the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution,” Shell Trinidad and Tobago Limited is reaffirming its broader commitment to sustainable development, as part of its wider social investment strategy.

As part of a wide-ranging portfolio of programmes aimed at creating long-term positive impact, the company continues to support initiatives that focus on food security, environmental protection, and the reduction of plastic waste, both onshore and offshore.
These efforts reflect just one facet of Shell T&T’s approach to sustainability, which spans education, innovation, and environmental stewardship across the country.
Food security remains an area of focus in Trinidad and Tobago, with the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute estimating that around 1 in 5 Caribbean households experience some level of food insecurity. The COVID-19 pandemic added further pressure to this landscape, contributing to supply chain disruptions and higher food prices. These effects were more noticeable in remote, coastal communities along the East Coast Marine Area (ECMA) from Ortoire to Guayaguayare where access to affordable, nutritious food can at times be more limited due to geographic and economic factors.
